22 Ways to Improve Your Life This Year
2022 is here, and with that, 365 days to become the best possible version of yourself. While it’s easy to become overwhelmed with the task of creating the perfect new year resolution, it is important to take time to set intentions for what you would like to accomplish.
Here at TCE, we believe the best new year resolution is to be unapologetically authentic, to exist loudly, and become everything you want to be.
That’s why we came up with a list of 22 ways YOU can start living your best life, right from the comfort of your home, so, grab your journals, light your candles, and keep reading.
SELF CARE:
Self care can be something as basic as staying for a night to recharge, going for a run, or painting your nails. The simple acts of kindness that you show yourself will end up improving your self-esteem and boost your glow, inside and out.
ROUTINE:
Find stability within yourself starts at creating a routine based on YOUR needs and wants. For example, start your day by making your bed and making a nice breakfast. Sticking to a routine will help your time management skills, allowing you to girlboss a little harder than before.
FIND YOUR AESTHETIC:
Who do you want to be? What is your vibe? These questions can be hard to answer, however, finding the aesthetic you would like to give off isn’t as hard as it seems. Start by making a mood board, surf Pinterest until you find what catches your eye, write down how you would like to be perceived. Watch all areas of your life transform.
EAT WELL:
Taking care of your mind is important, just like taking care of your body. What is crazy is, while you take care of your body, you are simultaneously taking care of your mind as well. Put good things into your temple. Treat yourself like someone you love. Fuel yourself with nutritious ingredients and stick to a consistent meal time.
SPEAK KINDLY TO YOURSELF:
The words you speak become the house you live in, that’s why it’s important to be self-aware. Let 2022 be the year you only fuel your mind with good thoughts about yourself. When you start to believe you deserve good things, it will be hard to stop you from accomplishing all of your goals.
CONFIDENCE:
Believing in yourself may sound cliche, but it is one of the most powerful tools to have. Carry yourself as if there is no way you can be knocked down. Start saying “I am going to” and “I will,” and say less “I don’t know if I can.”
GIVE YOURSELF REST TIME:
While being productive and determined can help you succeed in areas that require hard work, it can also drain yourself of mental and physical energy. It is just as important to rest and recharge as it is to be active.
START A NEW HOBBY:
Starting a new hobby can help you discover a whole new version of yourself that you never knew existed. We recommend picking up a new instrument or start a new form of working out. Whatever you choose, make sure it makes you joyful!
SURROUND YOURSELF WITH GOOD PEOPLE:
Keeping those who bring you down will evidently hold you back from becoming the best possible version of yourself. When you surround yourself with people who genuinely motivate you and make you better, you will find yourself blossoming.
LEARNING WHEN TO SAY YES (OR NO):
Feeling like you’ve been passing up opportunities? Say yes to the ideas that reasonably push you out of your comfort zone. Feeling drained of time and energy? Say no to the things that do not fit your ideal schedule. It’s all about balance.
KEEP YOUR SPACE CLEAN:
Your living space should be a reflection of the things YOU love. When you take time to clean your area, you are also taking time to clean your mind. Having a tidy room/space allows you to have the refreshed feeling you so deserve.
KEEP YOUR BRAIN ACTIVE:
Just like keeping your body moving, keeping your brain active by starting a mindful activity will help increase circulation and blood flow. We recommend reading a book, doing a puzzle, or writing down your thoughts to start the habit of training your brain.
LOWER YOUR SCREEN TIME:
Think about this - if you spend 8 hours a day on your phone, each day, for 365 days in a year, you would spend a total of 2,920 hours staring at a little blue screen. Now imagine you sleep a total of at least 8 hours every night, for 365 days, while spending 8 hours a day on your phone. That leaves you a total of only 8 hours each day that you are not spending on your phone. Hang up and hang out.
HAVE PLENTY OF CHEAT DAYS:
It is important to understand that we are all human, and that falling off the perfect health path is common (and totally fine). Remember that you are worthy of your favorite meals, and that one meal spent eating fried chicken will not hurt you. Allow yourself some grace, and go have fun.<3
BUDGET YOUR FUNDS:
It’s easy to become overwhelmed when it comes to your finances, luckily it’s not a hard process to start taking control of them. Budgeting is not as difficult and scary as it may come off, and the internet has dozens of templates on where to begin.
SPEND TIME OUTSIDE:
Spending time in nature helps raise your Vitamin D levels and life satisfaction, as well as lower blood pressure and reduce inflammation. Being outdoors may allow you to discover a new interest, develop a new hobby, or simply clear your mind.
MOVE YOUR BODY:
Working out does not have to be a long and lengthy task, simply going on a walk each day will help improve your life drastically. Moving your body will help boost endorphins and allow your mind, body, and soul to feel refreshed.
PRACTICE GRATITUDE:
It is so easy to become wrapped up in the negativity of the world. Waking up each day and deciding to have a grateful heart will help allow you to stay positive and realize just how good your life really is.
ALLOW THINGS TO COME AND GO:
People, things, places, and feelings are temporary. The bad days are temporary. Remember that when you accept things as they are, not as for what you wish they were, you can continue to move onto better things.
TRAVEL OFTEN:
Leaving the town that you reside in can help clear your mind and soothe your soul. Go to a place that you have always wanted to visit. If your dream destination is too far out of your reach, take a quick road trip to the nearest city.
MAKE NEW FRIENDS:
Meeting new people can end in two ways: a blessing or a lesson. Though outcome #2 may seem scary, you will never know who you might meet if you do not go for it. Step out of your comfort zone and put yourself out there!
BELIEVE THAT YOU ARE DESERVING OF GOOD THINGS:
You’ve made it to the end of the list, congrats! You are 22 steps closer to becoming the best version of yourself. The last piece of advice we have to offer you is to believe that you are worthy and deserving of the good that comes your way in 2022. Accept the blessings coming your way. Believe in yourself. It is time to transform your life for the better, babe!
